Chestnuts
Sierra Rica’s organic chestnuts have a fine heritage. Traditionally, the European chestnut, Castanea Sativa, was known in Britain as the “Spanish Chestnut”, for the simple reason that the best quality fruit came from Spain. Today, most chestnut growers in Spain are small landowners, gathering their autumnal crop by hand in teams and assisted by members of the extended family. (a brief history)
Sierra Rica is based in the main chestnut growing area of Andalucia – an area famed for its majestic groves of 15th Century chestnut trees.
